the supreme god who dwells in the cremation ground where pēys live.
dresses himself in the skin of an angry tiger
has a neck stained by the poison
is in Kaṭavūr and has eight arms.
is the chief who is himself the mother and father for the many living beings.
is the god in the most exalted place who eats receiving alms riding on a galloping bull.

In Ghost haunted Katavoor Mayaanam abides
Magnificent Siva Lord; His repulsive sutureless wear
is furious curious tiger hide; His neck is blue with a clue;
His shoulders eight to fight; His own town
is Intimate Katavoor ultimate; He is Mother, Father,
Head, for all Beings; astraddle upon strident
single lone Bull, He begs for alms where He might seek,
receive, and eat! Yet, He dwells far above all.
