Civaṉ who has a neck made beautiful by poison and who is in pāṇṭikkoṭumuṭi where the ladies who are as beautiful as a portrait and whose feet are painted with red-cotton dye plunge and bathe!
with the thought that you afford protection to those who are afraid of the cycle of birth and death, and seek refuge in you.
I too who is your slave was very much afraid of that, and sought refuge in you
you granted your grace to me who is your slave saying Do not fear.
What do you lose by that?

O Siva! O poison-adorned dark throated one! O primal Lord! You dwell in the \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'pANdik kodumudi\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' temple in kaRaiyUr town where beautiful women with soft feet bathe in the Kaveri river. You are the protection for those who are afraid. Having realized it, I too have have come to you for the same reason. Saying \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"do not fear\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\", You have given protection to your lowly servant. Yet, you have not lost anything. Even if I were to forget you, my tongue will go on saying Your holy name \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'namaSSivaAya\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'.

Virgins with cotton soft tread like dolls play on Cauvery ghats, plunge oft in gentle current and play, there in Paandikkodumudi
where , O, Lord of grace you abide, O One with venom banded neck, for frightened lot that refuge in you, you ensure safety, I learnt;
knowing, you signed me in signalling \\\"fear never\\\", hugged me and gave holy mercy; found I you didn\\\'t stand to lose thereby;
nobility and status pristine though you hold, and I forget you though, tongue in routine tell thy holy name Namasivaya nonstop.
