Civaṉ has smeared the holy ash on his body.
has a caṭai which stands upright and who is worshipped by the tall Māl.
has the hearts of those who meditate on him, as his share.
has a loin-cloth only as his dress.
the place where he stays to be praised by the people of this world.
female monkeys of short tails having eaten the ripe fruits in the cluster of the fruits of the plaintain tree, push.
my tongue!
sing the fame of pacupati īccaram in āvūr where the monkeys pounce upon their kind to flee and roam about in the gardens.

Siva is pleased to reside in the hearts of those who meditate on Him.

Sing my tongue, sing may you Aavoor pacupateeccaram,
Where amid the plantain groves, duck- monkeys pluck the ripe
Fronds, eat and fly at the males in rival haste; there Lord of holy ash
With risen locks is saluted by tall maal, where Lord dorms in the hearts
Of they that think on Him clad in kovanam for the round world to hail.
