The confidante speaks:
The Lord is a vanquisher of the three
skyey cities;
His is a silver mountain;
He abides and dances in
Chitrambalam;
O woman,
decked with rows of bangles,
I behold a messenger here.
Is he from him
Who befriended us thanks to His limitless grace
And then parted from us?
Or from strangers,
come to add to our misery
Of parting which we have painfully survived?
Translation: T. N. Ramachandran,Thanjaavoor ,1995
(Maid shows the heroine some augury heralding)
O; Lady with sets of bangles well adorned!
Something augurs, the like of a messenger,
Sent by our chief, adding to the grace of Civa
The Lord of Kayilai adance in spatium, that quelled triple cities,
Who has parted from us for your sake, or sent by aliens
As non-descript what or causal teaser
To frighten us as though, forecasting the woe
That may beset us with in season ahead!
(Grace indexes Being’s exceeding love for Civai)
Translation: S. A. Sankaranarayanan, Kumbakonam, 2014
