The confidante speaks:
Your locks are sought by bees,
oh fair one of pure
words!
The Great One`s shoulders are smeared with white
holy ash.
To the Lady who shares His frame,
The Lord of Tillai is both father and son.
Did he not save us from the phytophagous tusker
That was very like the one whose hide He peeled,
of yore?
Can we suffer the beauteous leaves held in his hands
to fade?
Translation: T. N. Ramachandran,Thanjaavoor ,1995

Bee-buzz’d locks-rich maiden of pure speech!
Lord wearing the white ash with shoulders broad.
He for his half has Her for whom is he Father and son alike.
He is of Tillai with the tusker hyde upon. Now he’s one
Scared away the Tusker almost upon us,
In superior action; is it for us to let his garland and taws wither?
Translation: S. A. Sankaranarayanan (2009)
