The hero speaks:
You are like unto Tillai the Lord of which,
shares
In His frame His Consort of soft mellifluous words.
You accept not these leaves,
beauteous blooms and
buds:
You but willingly heap cruelties on me
That I should pine and wail all alone.
Did you but learn to look daggers at me?
Are the looks of your flowery eyes the arrows of
Manmath?
Translation: T. N. Ramachandran,Thanjaavoor ,1995
1. Hero with sandal taws
O, alien to Tillai Lord whose part is melic
Soft-dulcet speech owning consort! Why not you
Take this floral twig and taws I have brought?
Secluding me by dear cruel moves, what for
Have you the archery of Kama in your eyes?
To tantalize me deserving grace?
Translation: S. A. Sankaranarayanan (2009)
