నారాయణుడు లక్ష్మీ సమేతుడై ఎర్రని తామర పుష్పముపై అమరియుండ,
వారి పాదములు, తలభాగము ప్రధాన కేంద్రములుగా ఎంచి, తమలో ఎవరు గొప్పో ప్రదర్శించదలచి,
బ్రహ్మ పాతాలమువైపుకు ఒక వరాహ రూపమున ముందుకు పోగా, నా మనసును దోచిన ఆ పరమశివుడు ఆకాశమువైపుకు ఒక హంసవలే బహుదూరము పయనించాడు.
ఇతడు ఖచ్చితంగా బ్రహ్మపురమున వెలసి, విశాలమైన నుదురుగల స్త్రీలు మొదలుకొని,
ప్రపంచమున గల జీవులందరూ తనను ఆరాధించ గోరే ఆ పరంధాముడే.!

ಅಣ್ಣಾಮಲೆಯಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದು ನಿಂತು, ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಕದ್ದ
ಕಳ್ಳನಾಗಿ ಬೆಳಗುವಂತಹ, ಜ್ವಲಿಸುವಂತಹ ನೊಸಲನ್ನೂ,

प्रभु विराट स्वरूप लेकर उनको दर्शन दिलानेवाले मेरे हृदय को
आकृष्ट करनेवाले चित्त चोर हैं।
खड्ग सदृश लालट से सुशोभित महिलाएँ प्रभु की स्तुति कर रही हैं।
विश्व वन्दनीय प्रभु समृदु ब्रह्मपुरम में प्रतिष्ठित यही तो हैं।

(Brahma und Vishnu stritten sich, wer der Größte von beiden sei. Shiva sagte denen, derjenige der sein Fuß oder sein Kopfende zu Erst sieht, sei der Größte von den beiden.)
Vishnu nahm in der Breite zu ( und wandelt sich als ein Schwein) und suchte nach dem Fuß, Brahma wandelte sich als ein Schwan und flog nach oben um das Kopfende zu entdecken.
Er ( Gott Shiva) streckte sich groß, somit stehlt der Dieb mein Herz.
Beginnend mit den Frauen mit dem leuchtenden Stirn auf der Erde, preisen ihn hoch und beten ihn an.
Der großartiger Herr ist in der Tat er, der in diesen ruhmreichen Ort residiert.

Māl and the god who is seated in the cool lotus.
having as their objects feet and forehead to find out who was the chief between them Māl going down a long distance as a pig and Piramaṉ going a long distance in the sky as a swan
the thief who captivated my mind.
this person is truly the Lord who resides in Piramāpuram gladly, which was desired intensely to be worshiped by the people of this world beginning with the ladies with bright forehead.

There was a dispute between Maal (Vishnu) and Ayan (Brahma) as to who among them was superior. They went to Siva for adjudication. Siva gave them a test. He asked them to find His feet or crown. Whoever comes first would be the superior. Siva stood like huge column of fire, the top of which went beyond the skies and the bottom went beyond the netherworld. Maal became a pig and went on dredging the earth to find the feet of Siva. Ayan became a swan and flew up to see the crown. Both were exhausted but were not successful in their missions. They realized that Siva was superior to both of them.
This anecdote is repeated by Sambandar in the ninth stanza of every decad.
